Region : The best grape growing regions in New Zealand

Fallen Angel Wines from New Zealand is a special project spearheaded by Stephen White of the world renowned Stonyridge Vineyards in Waiheke Island. The concept is simple: make varietal wines only from grapes sourced from the region of New Zealand which is most ideal for that particular variety. For example, the best Sauvignon Blanc coming out of NZ is grown in Marlborough, hence the Fallen Angel Sauvignon Blanc is made using Marlborough grapes. Hawkes Bay produces excellent Cabernet, Merlot and Chardonnay as the region's weather is similar to that of Bordeaux and this is why the Fallen Angel Cabernet Merlot and Chardonnay all seem rather French in style! And of course, no one can dispute the excellence of Central Otago Pinot Noirs. All wines are made on Waiheke Island under the close eye and supervision of Stephen at Stonyridge.

"The quality of the Fallen Angel range of wines is fantastic. This new brand made by Stonyridge is young, cool and exciting with a variety for everyone. The ripe fruit driven styles, true to type, emphasize the fact that these are well crafted wines showing the very best of their region and variety. My favourites are the dry chocolate rich Mourvedre and the passionately fruity Reisling." Joelle Thompson, National Wine Writer
