"..If there were a classification of Growths in New Zealand then Goldwater Estate would surely be high among the First Growths." Gerald Asher, fine wine editor, Gourmet Magazine, New York
Region : Waiheke Island and Marlborough, New Zealand

Goldwater Estate was established by Kim and Jeanette Goldwater in 1978 when they pioneered winegrowing on Waiheke Island with the planting of the Island's first vinifera vineyard. The success of their wines is demonstrated by the fact that there are now more than thirty vineyards flourishing on Waiheke Island. Who would guess that an ex-hippie colony better known for its marijuana plantations would turn out to become the birthplace of world-leading wines?

Notable achievements :
Goldwater selected as a top 100 winery of the world to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the London International Wine and Spirit Fair. Gold medal for the Zell Chardonnay at 2000 London Fair.
